Marco Polo. Traveller, merchant, storyteller

Marco Polo. Traveller, merchant, storyteller

A journey into international illustrated publishing for children, in the company of Marco Polo, commemorating seven hundred years since his death.

Having left Venice at a very young age with his father and uncle, Marco Polo was a traveller, merchant, ambassador, and storyteller.

Through the words and illustrations of nearly 50 carefully selected books, the story of his journey to China comes to life: the extraordinary encounters, the court of Kublai Khan, and the difficult path home.

Then, there is his imprisonment in Genoa with Rustichello da Pisa, who recorded the story of his life in the book The Travels of Marco Polo, now translated and published in many different languages.

The Exhibition is curated by Giannino Stoppani Cooperativa Sociale / Accademia Drosselmeier.
