What is the Young Illustrators Avenue?
For those familiar with CCBF well, it is common knowledge that we have always given a lot of importance to illustration. The main proof of this is the effort we have put in giving life to the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition, a yearly event specially created to support emerging artists in their career development and give them the visibility their pioneering work deserves. After just a few years of existence, the Golden Pinwheel Competition has succeeded in attracting 1,999 illustrators from 72 different countries and territories. Backed up by our strong experience in organising illustration competitions, exhibitions and knowledge sharing events, we at CCBF are ready to go one step further.
This is why we are happy to announce the launch of the “Young Illustrators Avenue”, an area created especially for illustrators, artists and content creators seeking for business opportunities, professional training and industry networking. The project is a CCBF initiative supported by the Golden Pinwheel official community partner shijue.me.
China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) 2019 will take place during 15-17 November at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre (SWEECC).
What to gain as an illustrator?
Be in touch with the industry: Publishers, culture organisations and entertainment companies from all over the world come to CCBF. They are constantly looking for new ideas, so they are looking for you!
Refresh your ideas, increase your creativity: The Illustrators Avenue gives you free access to all the CCBF professional programmes, and many of them have been designed just for you. Meet confirmed illustrators from all around the world, attend the lectures and workshops of the Illustrators Survival Corner, have your works reviewed by renowned publishers. Is there a better way to improve your professional skills?
It is all about networking: If you have ever felt lonely in your working space, now is the time to make new contacts or finally meet some of your social networks friends. The Illustrators Avenue is the place to build a community and share stories with people who share your passion for illustration and art.
Last but not least, it is a chance to sell your art and your merchandising: Many book fairs host a marketplace for illustrators to promote their work in all their different forms. Books, postcards, prints… you name it! During the weekend, you will enjoy the opportunity to show and sell your products.
How to apply:
- For illustrators between 16 and 39-years-old.
- Fill in the application form. Submit it to the CCBF organising team and for their confirmation. (Note: the 50 finalists of 2017-2019 Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition will be automatically accepted.)
- There are only 30 booths available. Booths will be attributed on a first-come first-serve basis.
- Fee: RMB2,000 for the entire 3 days of CCBF.
