Zhang Qiusheng (Tainjin, 1939) is an ever-green tree in the creation of children’s literature in China. Zhang, who also served as editor and editor-in-chief of many prestigious newspapers and children’s magazines, has dedicated himself to training and cultivating an impressive range of talent in the field of children’s literature writing.

A highly dedicated and diligent writer for over 50 years, his supreme literary achievements, in both poetry and fiction for children, have cast an everlasting influence over many generations of writers. Also, a number of his works have been selected into primary school textbooks and won many an award.

Zhang Qiusheng’s distinctive mini-fairy tales bring interesting thoughts, fresh ideas, genuine tenderness, poetic quality, and pure together in one story. They shall be forever recognised for their richness and liveliness in topics, their unexpected and changing plots, the precision and originality of their writing, and that characterising language marked by childhood’s innocence.
