Zhang Mingzhou (China)
President of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People)
Over the years, Mr. Zhang Mingzhou has been actively engaged in international cultural exchange and dedicated himself to the development of Chinese and foreign children’s literature, the publishing of books for children and adolescents, and Children’s reading promotion. His extraordinary ability has not only enabled the world to have a more objective and deeper understanding of Chinese children’s literature, and increased international communication and cooperation in children’s literature and publishing, but it also built a strong bridge between Chinese and foreign communities of children’s literature. Being an ardent, ingenious and passionate advocate of children’s reading promotion, Mr. Zhang Mingzhou was elected new president of IBBY at the 36th IBBY international congress in August 2018, and thus became the first Chinese to hold the highest office in this organisation.
