About the author:

Born in 1963 in Jishou, Hunan, PengXuejun is a former teacher who used her experience and passion asa children’s worker to cultivate her stories. She is the author of more than 20 collections of essays and novels, including You Are My Little Sister, Waist Gate, and The Little Train in the Forest. She received the Soong Ching-ling Children's Literature Award, National Excellent Children's Literature Award, Bing Xin Children's Literature Award, among others.

Abstract:

Set in Jingdezhen, in the heart of Jiangxi province, the novel tells the storyof a boy named Black Finger and his friends, whose lives reflect the great changes taking place in today’s China.Through the daily routine of the boys, one cansense the transformations of Jindezhen, the long-time capital of porcelain, and a bastion of Chinese tradition engaged in modernisation. It also illustrates the spiritual development of a group of teenagers.
