Emmanuelle Beulque

After graduating from the French National School of Translators and Interpreters (ESIT, Sorbonne, Master 2 in Translation studies) Emmanuelle Beulque worked for five years as an editor in professional technical newspapers and magazines about nature and ecology—one of her numerous interests. She later turned to the publishing industry working as a translator from English and Russian and as freelance editor for major French publishing companies, such as Gallimard, Hachette or Nathan. In 2002, she joined forces with Frederic Lavabre to create Sarbacane publishing company. A mother of 4 daughters, Emmanuelle is an experienced linguist keen on the accuracy of words as well as a passionate reader from childhood, excited about the advances in children’s psychology and education sciences.

Sarbacane is an independent publishing company based in Paris, renowned for its creative and quality illustrated books for children of all ages, innovative and successful mid-grade series and YA novels. We have published internationally acclaimed authors and illustrators like Serge Bloch, Rébecca Dautremer, Magali Le Huche, Max Ducos or Clementine Beauvais, to name but a few.
