Exhibition: Shanghai Impressions—Visual Travels through a Chinese Metropolis
1st-4th April 2019
BCBF Illustrators Survival Corner

Last November, CCBF selected three Spanish illustrators - Joan Negrescolor (Barcelona, 1978), Miguel Pang Ly (Barcelona, 1980) and Adolfo Serra (Teruel, 1980), among the most promising ones of their generation to spend ten days in Shanghai as artists-in-residence, with the mission to turn the city into their creative playfield.

Ten days of walks through Shanghai's bustling avenues and hidden alleys resulted in artworks - both personal creations and collective endeavours - of which a selection is exhibited in Bologna. The exhibition Shanghai Impressions is therefore another manifestation of the growing connections between Bologna and Shanghai as heartlands of quality children's creation.

"Shanghai Impressions—Visual Travels through a Chinese Metropolis" Exhibition Presentation
3rd April 2019 16:00-16:50
BCBF Illustrators Survival Corner

With Joan Negrescolor, Miguel Pang Ly and Adolfo Serra, Illustrators (Spain)

Participating in CCBF's artists-in-residence program, three selected Spanish illustrators will give the presentation on their "Shanghai Impressions—Visual Travels through a Chinese Metropolis" exhibition and talk about the creative and human experiences they gathered in Shanghai.

Seasoned travellers and keen observers of their urban environment, Joan Negrescolor, Miguel Pang Ly and Adolfo Serra drew an amusing yet insightful portrait of Shanghai, with Chinese traditional materials - coloured inks, rice papers - and formats - scrolls, accordion sketchbooks - as pillars of their creative process. This overthrows visual clichés and unveils the most human aspects of the gigantic metropolis-Shanghai.

* The event will be held in English.
