The 2025 CCBF Key Visual has been passionately created by Daniele Morganti, an Italian illustrator and recipient of the Special Mention in the Commercial Category at the 2024 Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition.
Reflecting on his creative process, Daniele shared: “Books are not just made of words; in particular, children's books allow readers to dream and imagine stories through illustrations.” His design begins with a vibrant array of cartoon-like characters, each step telling a story of human creativity, innovation, and the ability to embrace and adapt to new tools. The final artwork unfolds like a map of a journey into creativity, inviting viewers to explore the limitless possibilities of artistic expression.
Daniele’s inspiration and thought process are evident in the playful and detail-rich composition. The journey starts with an ingenious image of a teacup holding pencils, symbolizing the close connection between creativity and everyday life. A cat clutching a paintbrush and a character holding a paint bucket with a magnifying glass which also symbolizes the zoom feature through a lens and the bucket used to fill graphic elements in basic graphic design programs
As the illustration progresses, a surfer gliding over a ruler transitions the scene into a modern setting, where figures equipped with tablets, stylus and digital design tools highlight the evolving role of technology in children's learning and artistic development.
The artwork culminates in a character embracing the Earth and waving a magic wand, carrying a heart-shaped symbol—a tribute to CCBF. This heart, reminiscent of a “like” icon, embodies modern interaction and engagement, perfectly aligning with CCBF’s motto, “Embrace the future”
Daniele Morganti is a freelance illustrator and art director currently based in Milan. He is a former Mimaster student.
With a deep connection to CCBF, he previously designed the visual identity for the "Illustrators’ Survival Corner," a collaboration between CCBF and Mimaster. His creative designs bring fresh highlights to this dedicated space for illustrators every year.
Daniel’s work captivates audiences with its clean and vibrant visuals, well-structured compositions, and playful humor.
The CCBF 2024 set new records for both exhibitors and visitors. A total of 497 exhibitors from 32 countries and regions enthusiastically participated, attracting 41,263 visitors from around the world, highlighting the fair’s growing influence both domestically and internationally.
