Heimi is a picture book artist and illustrator from Chaozhou, China, who currently works and lives in Beijing. As an artist, she likes to tell stories with both pictures and words, and conceives books as a means to communicate with people in different places of the world. Her first picture book, Braids, won a Golden Apple at the 2015 Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB) and the 2016 Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Best Picture Book Award of the Year. Additionally, her illustrations for The Pallas’s Cat Who Wanted Everything won the 2018 Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition Gran Award. Heimi’s art has been showed extensively in China though solo exhibitions in Shanghai and Beijing. Her works was also part of important international retrospectives, including a world touring exhibition organised for BIB’s 50th anniversary, and a Chinese contemporary illustration exhibition showcased at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the Tehran International Book Fair when China was guest of honour of those events.
