Bologna’s BOP prize coming to CCBF with a new lounge area!

After only five editions, China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) has become a premium event for the global children’s publishing industry: it hosts one of the leading copyright exchange hubs for children’s books and content and plays also an important role in promoting quality and creativity in children’s literature.

The next CCBF is scheduled to take place from 9 to 11 November 2018 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre. For the first time, it will be organised in close collaboration with BolognaFiere, the proud organiser of Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF). Through this new collaboration, CCBF will benefit from BCBF’s solid experience and client hub, and the two fairs are aiming to foster strong connections between their respective programmes.

In 2018, BCBF is building a bridge to China for the winners of the BOP - Bologna Prize to the Best Publisher. Created in 2013 by BCBF and the Italian Publishers Association (AIE), the BOP prize rewards those publishers who have most distinguished themselves for their creative and publishing excellence over the last year, showing originality as well as professional and intellectual skills.  Six winners are designated every year - one for each geographical area: Europa, Asia, Africa, North America, Central - South America and Oceania - making of the BOP prize one of the most cosmopolitan programmes of Bologna.

Synonym of quality and diversity, the BOP winners are invited to join CCBF in a special collective space which will be located in a premium position on the fair’s ground - the BOP Lounge. Here is a preview of the publishing houses that CCBF is excited to welcome in this new BOP Lounge:

  • Planeta Tangerina, Portugal – 2013 winner

The BOP—Bologna Prize for the Best Publisher of the Year selects its winners from a shortlist of candidates classified by region. As CCBF is eager to bring together the best of Asia-Pacific publishing to Shanghai, former BOP finalists from the Asia region have also been invited to attend CCBF in the new Asia Pacific New Entry Lounge. CCBF will be happy to welcome:

  • Bear Books - South Korea

With these new lounges, CCBF and BCBF are offering their clients a new world of opportunities: BOP winning publishers will get a chance to get closer to the most attractive publishing market at present - China - while CCBF exhibitors and visitors will get access to more innovative and creative publishers than ever.
